Ethics Code
Publication Ethics
Macrohistoria is an academic journal that publishes original scientific works in accordance with strict standards of quality, rigor, social relevance, and ethics. Plagiarism and self-plagiarism of any kind are not tolerated, nor is the publication of works previously published in another language.
Responsibility of Authors
Authors are responsible for submitting original, finished works and for not simultaneously submitting the same work for publication in another journal. Further, authors will adapt their works to the Macrohistoria template and send revisions within the specified deadline. Authors will likewise commit to the inclusion of all coauthors who have made significant contributions to the work and to disclosing and recognizing any collaboration, funding, or contributions from third parties. Finally, authors will have the opportunity to disclose potential conflicts of interest with peer evaluators.
Responsibility of Macrohistoria’s Editorial Team
The Editorial Board of Macrohistoria is responsible for selection of received articles to undergo evaluation for publication. Additionally, it commits to ensuring confidentiality in the evaluation process and providing feedback to authors, as well as to maintaining an expedited editorial process to facilitate the prompt circulation of socially relevant knowledge within the Latin American academic sphere.
Furthermore, the Editorial Board pledges to make every effort to ensure that published works are original and relevant contributions, as well as to ensure that the evaluators of each manuscript are experts in the relevant field. The editorial team will refrain from using any information from unpublished articles for personal research without the authors' expressed permission, and will maintain strict objectivity, transparency, and confidentiality throughout the process.
Corrections
Should any author, editor, or reader of Macrohistoria detect an error within an article, they are requested to notify the editorial team through the posted contact information. Alleged errors will be assessed together with the article’s authors and may lead to corrections if errors are unintentional or minor in nature. In severe cases, errors may result in the retraction of a manuscript. Retraction of published manuscripts will only proceed in the case of a legal infringement by an author or authors.
Responsibility of Evaluators
Evaluators are responsible for reviewing articles according to the evaluation template provided by Macrohistoria and reporting their judgments within specified deadlines, maintaining the confidentiality of the review process, and promptly reporting any suspicions of plagiarism or self-plagiarism. Finally, evaluators will assess articles objectively and with transparency, refraining from using any unpublished information without the expressed permission of the authors.
