The Journal

Macrohistoria is an independent digital academic journal of social sciences, founded in 2021, currently edited by Mhyma SpA. It emerged as a group proposal of Macrohistoria y Mundo Actual (“Macrohistory and the Current World”), and was consolidated as an international institution devoted to the study and dissemination of the macrohistory of Latin America.

Objective

Macrohistoria aims to inspire research and historiographical reflection focused on understanding the processes of global transformation from a Latin American perspective, promoting approaches that address historical phenomena with a wide geographic or temporal lens, and to be a medium for intellectual exchange and the strengthening of academic networks in the region.

The review adheres to FAIR principles for best practices. It does not charge publication or management fees to authors, and it permits immediate free and open access to all of its content. Macrohistoria is published twice annually and submissions should be original, unedited articles of 8,000 words or fewer, preferably written in Spanish, although submissions in Portuguese or English will also be considered.

Contents

Contributions to Macrohistoria are original and unpublished articles of up to 10,000 words, preferably written in Spanish, although texts in Portuguese and English are considered.

In order to guarantee quality standards, all materials undergo a pre-evaluation process by Macrohistoria's editorial team, which guarantees the adjustment to the editorial line, as well as the fulfillment of publication standards and anti-plagiarism policies. Subsequently, they are submitted for evaluation by specialized peers, under the double-blind system.

The final decision regarding publication or rejection of submitted articles takes into account the reviews of peers and of the Editorial Board.
